ECU Software development V Model

  • ECU development take approximately 60% of time of the ECU development.
  • V model is use for the ECU software development.
  • (It is same as general software development model like waterfall model, spiral model etc.)
  • V model specify testing plan in early phase, so it save both time and money.

Basic thing in V Model is Specification - Implementation - Testing.

In model there are the following phases.
1. Requirement.
2. System Design.
3. ECU specification and software specification.
4. Implementation of software code and auto-generation from the model as in MTALAB simulink.
5. Unit Testing in this individual ECU's are tested.
6. In Sub-System Testing integration/interface of the different ECUs are tested.
7. In the System Testing complete system is tested with different combination of inputs.
8. In last complete vehicle is validated.

so its completely based on the verification and validation.

ECU(Electronics control unit) and OEM DETAILS.

Key Elements of ECU's.

1. core (Micro controller).

2. Memory.

3. Inputs. (Supply voltage, digital input, analog input(used ADC for conversion as ECU process only digital data)) .

4. Output (Analog output, logic output).

Design of automotive ECU is based on the V model.

ECU is developed by the tier 1 supplier based on the requirement(specification) from the OEM(Original Equipment manufacturer).
